Professional Liability and Cyber Underwriter


Zurich Insurance is currently looking for a junior to mid-level market facing underwriter to join our Professional Liability and Cyber team in our Atlanta or Dallas Offices. This is a great opportunity to join a well-established and growing professional liability and cyber underwriting team. As a market facing PL&C underwriter, you will be assessing risk and structuring insurance solutions for wide range of industries consisting of technology, manufacturing, and professional services as well as cyber risk. As part of a market facing role, you will also be developing professional business relationships with placement brokers to expand our production channel in the Southern US region. Desired skill sets for this role would consist of strong analytical and critical thinking skills as well as professional relationship building and sales skills.  

This is a highly technical, and market facing position. This entry level to mid-level underwriting role would provide world class training and professional development opportunities. Experience with Cyber, and Professional Liability (errors and omissions) lines of business is preferred, but not required. Zurich welcomes applicants with previous professional experience in the technology, cyber security, financial services, consulting, and sales industries. Our Underwriters are market-facing with objectives focused on profitable growth and superior service to our broker partners and customers as well as creating innovative solutions to meet the risk transfer needs our insureds.

As a Market Facing Underwriter your responsibilities would consist of:

  • Soliciting, underwriting, and analyzing E&O and Cyber Risk 
  • Sales and marketing activities within your region 
  • Complying with underwriting rules and guidelines, insurance laws and regulations and rating manual rules 
  • Developing and maintaining agency and broker relationships
  • Working within broad limits and authorities on complex assignments

This role will be filled at either the Junior or Mid-Level level.  The hiring manager will determine the appropriate level based upon the selected applicant’s experience and skill set relative to the qualifications listed for this position

Junior Level Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent and 1 or more years of experience in the insurance, sales, technology, IT security, finance, legal, or management consulting industries
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent and 2 or more years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support area
  • Knowledge of the insurance industry and the legal and regulatory environment
  • Knowledge of underwriting philosophy, techniques, national/local filing regulations and guidelines

Mid-Level Qualifications: 

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent and 3 or more years of experience in the insurance, sales, technology, IT security, finance, legal, or management consulting industries.
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent and 6 or more years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support area
  • Zurich approved Apprenticeship program including an Associate Degree and 1 or more years of experience in the insurance, finance, or management consulting area
  • Zurich approved Apprenticeship program including an Associate Degree and 4 or more years of experience in claims or underwriting support area
  • Knowledge of legal and regulatory guidelines 
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office 
  • Experience working under deadlines
  • Experience working in a fast-paced team environment
