Dear Après Community,

These past two weeks have been an emotional roller coaster. Regardless of your political leanings, we think we’re all happy the election is over – it’s been a long year. However, as women, it’s time to take a long, hard look at our place in America. We make up a majority of higher education graduates in this country, and yet we don’t have a commanding voice in either Corporate America or government. We are expected to fight an uphill battle at work, be the primary caregivers for our families and bear most of the burdens of domestic work. There must be a shift in this paradigm — if not for us, then for our daughters, sisters and friends. We must begin to make real strides towards gender equality and obtain positions of power within companies and government. But this change won’t occur unless we get laser-focused, a little louder and definitively more united.

We started Après because we wanted to change the ratio of men to women in the upper levels of the workforce and help all women who want a job to get one. We will continue to fight tirelessly towards equality. But, we can’t do it alone – we need your help.

If you believe in women finding work that works for them, equal pay and putting an end to the motherhood penalty, then we hope you’ll help us grow our community. We ask that you share Après with your women’s groups, your networks, your friends. Introduce your religious, educational, political and literary groups to our community. Invite others to sign up, create a profile and apply for jobs. Our corporate partners are actively recruiting women and paving the way for work cultures that are inclusive of everyone. Even if someone is not actively looking for a job, there’s plenty to inspire in our content, newsletters and podcast, The After Show.

If you want to motivate others, please share this post with women you care about who share our beliefs. We must unite and support one another – that’s the only way change will happen. We invite you to be a part of this movement and be a changemaker with us.

xo,

Jen & Niccole
