WHERE ARE YOU IN YOUR WORKING MOM JOURNEY?

In 2000, my world shifted. I let go of a profession in Technology. Yoga, Pilates and meditation became my main focus and career. A constant lover of movement and a teacher at my core, it was obvious my purpose was to share my happiness by guiding classes.

My first born was a tiny preemie. Fortunately, my life work supported me in living my practice and trusting. While I was not prepared for being a mom so early, working for myself allowed our family the time for me to be home and present.

SUCCESS STORY

Many students request my guidance when traveling or while in their home. Now, my classes are offered online at YogaAnytime. It feels sweet to know anyone can roll out a mat, anywhere and stream sessions. A student from Sweden commented she loved being in my class. We now have a virtual connection. My website offers simple and accessible free audio meditations too. A big win for me this year was also having my children attend a public class and fully participate, their take away, “yoga is awesome!”

WHAT HAS BEEN KEY TO YOUR SUCCESS — TO GETTING TO THIS POINT?

I am passionate about sharing the importance of a healthy mind and body with all. My genuine enthusiasm for working with people and being a life long learner keeps me inspired. Students say my positive energy is contagious and my humor makes sessions light, even when the physical work is intense. Being committed to a home self practice of daily of sitting, moving and staying patient allows me to live my yoga.

WHAT DO YOU LOVE TO DO WITH YOUR FAMILY?

Our family enjoys playing in nature and traveling together. Music is always playing in our home, we love to start the day with classical and move on to afternoon dance parties. In the winter, we ski together and are often outside. The kids are creative and drawing together provides for sweet conversations. Imaginary play is also big pastime in our home. “Urban Productions,” has several unreleased home movies.

WHAT ADVICE DO YOU LIVE BY OR LOVE TO SHARE WITH OTHERS?

“Be yourself, everyone else is taken,” Oscar Wilde. This quote reminds me being my best self is my life journey. Often I remind my students to appreciate each breath as a gift and not a given, this supports all in being more present. Finally, our family motto is “comparison is the thief of joy.” We use these words to allow each of us to be unique individuals and know together we are a strong team.
