NRDC is seeking a Principal Gifts Grant Manager, reporting to the Director of Principal Gifts Operations, to track the progress of major institutional 7- to 10-figure grants. The Grant Manager will help the implementation of individualized engagement plans and will ensure sound reporting to principal donors in coordination with all internal stakeholders.

  • Liaising between Program, Finance, Leadership, and Development to ensure the proper deployment of grants and reports to donors in an accurate and timely manner. Promoting institutional collaboration and transparency.
  • Demonstrating superior project management skills, including ability to independently manage the timeline and production of multiple activities and supporting communications while working with numerous partners to achieve a high-caliber final product.
  • Participating in the Bezos Earth Fund Working Group led by Finance.
  • Working closely with other grant writers, operational staff, and program finance managers to manage proposals, grant budgets, reports, and financial reports.
  • Ensuring NRDC Program, Communications, and CPA staff are aware of and focused on grant requirements, deadlines, and deliverables.
  • Participating in programmatic meetings to follow grant progress and elevating potential challenges and donor engagement opportunities to Development leadership.
  • Working collaboratively to develop projects and limit target increases.
  • Holding grant kick-off meetings for awarded grants.
  • Assisting in the production of briefings for leadership.
  • Maintaining database accuracy and integrity.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred.
  • 6+ years’ experience in fundraising, grant and budget management.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to work in conjunction with Program experts, Finance, and Development leadership.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to maintain enduring relationships with internal stakeholders.
  • Superior writing skills and demonstrated ability to develop proposals, reports, and other materials, including narratives, budgets and financial reports.
  • Ability to effectively collaborate with writers.
  • Demonstrated organizational skills and ability to prioritize and oversee multiple streams of work to meet competing deadlines.
  • Detail-oriented with high standards of excellence.
  • Experience with Salesforce a plus.
  • Strong commitment to environmental advocacy preferred.
  • Shows a sensitivity, awareness, and willingness to learn and participate in the advancement of DEI required.
