Theresa Gusman

Theresa is a strategic leader with extensive investment, business management and client development experience at preeminent financial services firms. She is recognized for her exceptional abilities to both identify investment opportunities and drive growth, change and operational improvement. She has consistently led her teams to surpass challenging business and investment objectives while exceeding employee and client expectations in high-impact roles at Deutsche Bank.

In a series of leadership positions, Theresa was a successful investor, manager of investors, and business head serving mutual fund shareholders and institutional and UHNW clients. Her positions included Global Head of Equities, Head of US Equity Research and Global Head of Commodities. A passionate investor, she managed international, US Growth & Income, commodity and Pacific Basin strategies, with assets ranging from $2 billion to $17 billion. In each of these roles, Theresa identified strategic opportunities for growth, and efficiency, process and talent development improvements, set a clear vision, and led her team to deliver consistent, superior investment performance and asset growth, while maintaining proper oversight.

In October 2013, Theresa was tapped to become the first Chief Knowledge Officer of Deutsche Bank’s $1 trillion asset and wealth management business. In this global, cross-functional Executive Committee role, she created a clear, actionable strategy, developed a roadmap for success, and quickly delivered results. She identified and implemented numerous innovative people, culture change and knowledge sharing initiatives to merge the asset and wealth management divisions, drive investment and financial performance, grow the business, improve operational efficiency, develop talent and encourage collaboration.

Theresa is deeply committed to sustainability, corporate governance, diversity, wellness, the environment and building a winning culture. She headed the Global Proxy Voting Committee for more than 15 years, setting and leading DB’s assessment and engagement strategy, and recently developed a strategic plan to transform the Bank’s $8 billion sustainable investment platform into a cohesive, best-in-class capability. She also serves on the SIFMA Securities Industry Institute Board, as a member of the Financial Women’s Association Directorships & Corporate Governance Committee, and on the Après Group Advisory Board.

At Deutsche Bank, she was a member of the both the global and Americas Deutsche Asset & Wealth Management Executive Committees, the Deutsche Asset Management Executive Committee, and Deutsche Bank’s North American Diversity & Inclusion Council. She also led the global and regional People & Culture Advisory and the Global Knowledge Advisory Group.

Outside of work, Theresa is an avid triathlete, ultra-runner and marathoner, with an Ironman World Championship finish, an Ironman podium, and recent marathon podium finishes. She is married, with two children.
